A massive mistake many beginners make is following a bodybuilding diet plan aimed at rapid weight gain. Nine times out of ten, way more fat is gained than muscle which leaves the trainee the long drawn out task of losing it – whilst gradually losing the hard earned muscle mass.

What a waste of time, effort, and let’s face it, money.

Such diets usually only work well for people on steroids, although this is usually never mentioned. (like the elephant in the room.)

Wouldn’t it be better, then, if you bulked slowly? Doing so you will be able to gain muscle mass constantly over a very long period of time without gaining hardly any fat.

When you do decide to cut, it may only take a few short months to lose all of the fat you have gained and some extra, too. On the other hand, if you gain several stone of fat, you could be looking at maybe half a year to lose it all. And, while you are losing that fat, you are also slowly losing muscle mass… and…

The longer you have to cut for, the slower you lose fat, and the quicker your muscles deteriorate.

It really is a lesson to be learned, much like the tortoise and the hare.
