Not everybody likes doing barbell squats. In fact, most of the people I’ve talked to hate them, and would dearly like to find good squat alternatives.
I have a few for you which are easier and safer to perform, but work all the same muscles…
Dead Lifts
The dead lift uses exactly the same mechanism to the squat, the only difference is with the dead lift you are lifting with the barbell in the hands below you rather than having the bar above you across your shoulders.
Dumbbell Squats
Dumbbell squats are one of the best squat alternatives, because they aren’t performed with the dumbbells hoisted up, but are performed with the dumbbells to the sides of you. You can, therefore, lift heavy, but safely, and you don’t need a squat rack.
Other squat alternatives are exercises such as the leg press, hack squat machine, and lunges. But the 2 I have given you above are by far the best.
