Do you ever get a little sick of doing the same thing over and over again in your bodybuilding routine, week in week out, month in month out?
Have you stopped making size and strength gains despite trying harder?
You have reached a plateau, and the likely cause is your bodybuilding routine has become stale and you need to change it.
We already know that putting muscle on is difficult as the body doesn’t like to change, so after a while the body grows used to a type of exercise you are doing and the muscles stop growing. Even if you continue to lift a little heavier for a while, this is not always enough to cause the muscles to grow further.
To shock your body into growing again you need to change the exercises which you do. There are two ways to do this.
1: Try completely different exercises.
2: Vary the exercises you are doing slightly (difference grip widths, angles, tempo).
To avoid hitting a plateau in the future it is recommended that you change your routine once a month or more often. Or you could just keep on working out until growth stops and then change.
Changing a routine around regularly also helps to prevent you from getting bored and keeps you looking forward to each session.
